The clothes for this particular have a story behind them.

I’ve been following Brooklyn’s journey through modeling and music for the past two years and some. Through that time I’ve also been wanting to do a shoot with her. Not a boudoir shoot or anything like that–but a fashion or a portrait shoot.  She made a post in her green bathing suit and asked for a photographer to do a photoshoot with her in it. I jumped at that opportunity immediately! I had a vision in mind to do it downtown on Whyte Ave and shoot a street fashion/almost grunge style shoot. I ended up moving to Calgary for the summer and it was too cold to shoot outdoors when I had the resources for that shoot.

Fast forward to just recently…

I had been working with a photographer assistant from NAIT as part of his practicum. He helped set up the lighting and his assistance is what made this photoshoot possible. Doing this shoot in a studio with a white backdrop wasn’t my first choice, but we made it work!

I didn’t want to just do one outfit with this opportunity of shooting with Brooklyn though. I thought it would be super cool for her to wear her mom’s wedding dress! She had posted her own photos of herself in it. I knew that it would be fun to go a completely different direction with our second set.

This one was all about motion and freedom. She danced and moved her body to the rhythm of the music. This set was totally the best part of this shoot!

Finally, we ended our shoot with the classic One light Overhead set. The studio we used didn’t have a softbox big enough for the look I had in mind–So, we had to make do with what we had.
